Reviews & Evaluations

We carry out appraisals, reviews, evaluations and other assessments in order to strengthen development agencies’ work in the area of women’s rights and gender equality. We believe that we achieve better results if all stakeholders are involved and take an active part in the discussions throughout these processes.

We aim to:

  • Keep an open dialogue with all stakeholders
  • Identify results and achievements
  • Focus on best practices and lessons learned
  • Discuss our findings with the main stakeholders before finalising the process

Gender Audit

There is an increasing awareness of the central role of the organisational structure and culture in the design and delivery of gender sensitive programmes and projects. Working with gender issues obliges organisations to set their own houses in order and change aspects of the organisational culture which discriminate against female staff and female beneficiaries.

Nord/Sør-konsulentene faciliates organisational gender reviews based on the ILO participatory gender audit methodology, aiming at finding sustrainable solutions for mainstreaming gender into the organisation.

Capacity Building

We provide gender training for improved organisational performance and better programme results. We are carrying out training sessions through Bistandstorget and for specific organisations on request. We can also provide one-to-one or smaller group coaching. Please contact us for a discussion of the training needs of your organisation.

We offer standardised training on women’s rights and gender equality in development and tailor made training for each organisation’s particular needs and concerns. The training is designed to be of practical use for the participants’ work.

We use innovative and particapatory training methods. Drawing lessons from the participants’ own experience is important, and in order to ensure relevance participants work on their own case studies when possible.

Text and translation

We are well familiar with the tribal language of the development sector, and we offer high quality translation of English documents into the Norwegian language. We also work with the development of written texts, texts for web, creating summaries of reports etc. Please contact us for written samples of earlier work.
